Marine Corps Marathon Changes To Flatter Course

Marine Corps Marathon Changes To Flatter Course

For all you runners out there doing the race, the course is changing this year!

“When runners embark on the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon in late October, they will have a flatter course to traverse than they did the past six years.

On Tuesday, race organizers released the map for the 38th running of the marathon, which, most notably, does not include the 150-foot grade that challenged runners as they made their way around the Georgetown Reservoir. It’s a change veterans of the marathon like Fort Washington’s George Banker welcome.”

Mission 13, "Patient 29"

There is nothing so fun as running from Zombies on a Friday. Not because you’re gonna get away with not running from them tomorrow, being a Saturday, but because at least I don’t have to get up at 6 a.m., work until 5 p.m., go for a run, and still have the energy to write an article for GameSkinny.

So tonight I ran–according to Nike+ which I still haven’t calibrated–2 miles. I did loop around what I am decently sure is a mile so it’s probably pretty on par with the right distance. Not only will I be giving updates on my runs, but also include my Zombie training as well. Just in case any of you needed some extra tips.

I use the Zombies, Run! app, and basically what happens is you run a “Mission”, which generally can last from 25 – 30 minutes. In between songs of a playlist you choose, an audio story line plays. You also collect supplies as you run which you can use towards building your base. I’m going to be doing an awesome video review of this on my Facebook page, I Am Out Of Character, pretty soon. I’ve partnered up with a friend who does a lot of film ventures and also has Final Cut, so it should be pretty sweet.

I’ve been using the app for a while, so right now I am on Mission 13 now which is called Patient 29. I don’t want to give anything away for the story line, but I will post up a screen shot or two just for fun.
